Japanese School Girl Description |
Japanese school girl uniform was introduced more
than a century
ago. And there is hardly any difference between uniform of private and
public schools today and a hundred years ago. So, there are almost no
signs of evolution
in this issue. There are many elementary institutions where you won't
see Japanese school girls
or boys wearing uniform because it's not obligatory. In those schools
where it is required to wear uniform girls wear gray or black pleated
skirt and white blouse.
One if the most characteristic features of Japanese school girl uniform
is sailor outfit. This model was designed on the base of European-style
naval uniforms. This style of female uniform has a certain historical
background and goes far back to 1921 when it was officially introduced
by
the principal of Fukuoka Jo Gakuin University.
You won't miss a Japanese school girl at the street due to a couple of
reasons. The first one is uniform which is quite remarkable. Another
one lies in the “phenomenon” that girls never
appear in
parks, clubs or in other public places by one. They are always in
groups.
And it won't be considered as something off-handed if a foreign
tourist asks to make a photo with them. Girls will do it with a
pleasure.
In different schools uniform can be different. But the main line is
present in all models. Besides as a rule all schools have several
variants of their uniform (for winter and summer, for everyday classes
and for solemn occasions, etc.). And there is also an essential
difference in the uniform for high
school girls.
It is more free in skirt length, but the main tendencies - pleated
skirt and white blouse – still remain. Though skirts can be
not just
gray or black but checked. And one of the attributives instead of
sailor outfit is a tie of the same color with skirt.
